We’re so excited to share that the Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) has joined us as a friend and advisor to the Veterans Garden of Augusta.
For those who don’t know, AMI has an incredible history of helping communities grow. From creating the AMI Farm at Augusta Health to support healthy food access, to building school gardens across Staunton and Waynesboro, and even partnering with the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind to create one of the largest Farm-to-School programs in the state, AMI has shown what’s possible when people come together around good food, education, and care for the land.
Now, they’re bringing that same knowledge and heart to help us. The AMI team will be advising us as we plan and build the Veterans Garden of Augusta, sharing lessons learned from their past community garden projects, and helping us design hands-on educational workshops. They’ll also help create custom learning materials just for veterans, combining gardening, wellness, and sustainable growing practices in a way that supports healing and purpose.
We’re honestly so grateful for this connection. Having AMI walk beside us in this mission to build a space where veterans can grow, heal, and reconnect is a huge gift. Their experience and compassion will help us make this garden something truly special for our local veteran community.
Thank you, Allegheny Mountain Institute, for believing in what we’re building. We can’t wait to grow together. 🌱
