On top of everything else happening at the Veterans Garden of Augusta, we are making this a real priority. We’re beginning the restoration of the quarter acre hillside behind the garden by removing the invasive Bermuda grass and replacing it with native wildflowers, grasses, sedges and woody plants. ProFence, a trusted agricultural fencing company serving Virginia and the entire East Coast, has generously offered to donate all the deer fencing needed to protect our garden . We’re keeping the momentum going. After our wonderful Veterans Day tree planting, we’re continuing the project this Sunday with even more trees going into the ground. Thank you again to all the volunteers on Veterans Day! On their way to their new home. We’re kicking off our very first planting day at our new home, 212 Frontier Drive in Staunton, VA on the back acre lot behind the VFW and we’d love for you to join us. Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Staunton Tree Stewards , we’ll be planting the first seven fruit trees  to start our little urban orchard . This marks the first step in turning the space into a place where veterans and the community can grow, learn, and give back together.
