Big News — We Found Land!

ree

I’m excited to share that the Veterans Garden of Augusta has officially found a home for our garden!

We’ve secured a 0.30-acre site that’s the perfect manageable size to get started and it even has its own parking lot already in place. It also has water and electric hookups near by. Even better, it’s within Staunton city limits, making it easy for local veterans to access and participate.

We’re in the final steps of formalizing the agreements, and once everything is signed, I’ll share more details about the location and what comes next.

In the meantime, soil testing is underway, and we’ve already spread winter rye on the hillside to start rebuilding the soil. The first step for us is to bring some life back into this spot and we’re getting started by spreading leaf mulch to nourish the ground.

If you’re free and want to lend a hand spreading mulch, feel free to reach out!

For now, I just wanted to say we have a place to grow. This is a huge step forward, and I couldn’t be more grateful or excited for what’s ahead.
